Buying Doors

We went shopping for doors last week. We were fully confident because we had the builder’s specs, so all we needed to do was find the right doors at a bargain price and bring them home.

When we got to the store we looked more closely at the builder’s numbers. They didn’t make much sense. He seemed to have spec’ed out leprechaun doors, which is so strange because our leprechauns already have a door.

We hemmed, and hawed and pondered and stretched our already very big brains. I’m learning a lot about construction. It has it’s own language and much like making your way in special education or the medical world, it helps to learn the lingo. So we called the builder. Apparently, it really matters which numbers are in inches and which are in feet.  Who knew? Once we go that figured out, it all fell into place.

Stay in school kids…you will use math everyday.
